So at long last we get to it. Why am I here? What am I doing? Is there any purpose to all this toiling? My work here will be looking at how the small mammal community changes with human impact on the forest, and begin to get at how those changes might affect the forest in turn.

The adventure begins…
My adventure in the jungles of central Africa began as most journeys rather un-romantically must these days, leaving an airport. After eleven hours and change of driving we arrived at Ipassa, the field station which is to be the closest thing to home when I’m not camping over the next two months in the golden hour before sunset.
