A real-life marine biologist
“I’m really nervous,” one of the 4th graders in our Girl Scout troop quietly confessed to me. I inquired further and she explained, “I’ve never seen a marine biologist in real life before.”
Here’s to you, Class of 2015
A few weeks before graduation I was honored (and surprised!) to be selected as the student speaker for our graduation ceremony. The nomination forced me to hunker down and write about my time at the Nicholas School. Initially this seemed like just another item to check off the long end-of-the-school-year task list, but it ended up being an incredible gift. It forced me to carve out time to reflect on all of my experiences and especially the extraordinary people I’d come to know during our two years in the Master of Environmental Management Program.

Puppies in Perkins Library
I knew I was going to go the moment I saw the sign, “Puppies in Perkins Library.” December 10th, right in the middle of finals week. While I was not required to take final exams this semester, I had a plethora of projects with looming due dates. An opportunity to take a breather and pet some furry friends seemed like the best idea in the world.
