John Mallard
John studies hydrologic systems as a PhD student and former MS student with Dr. Brian McGlynn. His current research focuses on the legacies of degradation that have remained encapsulated in the soils and landscapes of the southern piedmont following centuries of intensive corn, tobacco, and cotton cultivation. His master’s research was focused on understanding how exchange between streams and groundwater, a process measured in individual stream reaches by necessity, propagates through entire stream networks. His free time is spent almost entirely on his couch with his dog, Skeeter.
