I will be working with Conservation International and the Ecuadorian government in Quito, and then I will travel to the coast (Guayaquil)  to interview local community fishermen and any other stakeholders. The goal is to survey the stakeholders as well as analyze methodology and assess policy of current blue carbon projects. While in country, I aim to examine gaps between technology usable in the US and field of Ecuador, review feasibility, limits to implementation or adoption, and diffusion of potential blue carbon projects. Lastly, I wish to determine what would build local capacity, be self-sustaining, and support blue carbon infrastructure.
