I’m currently doing a summer internship with BN Livestock, which leases grazing land from Los Vaqueros Watershed in Contra Costa County, California.

I’ve taken the opportunity of being out here to visit places in the Sierras I haven’t been to yet. I recently did two sunrise walks in King’s Canyon National Park and this post shows photos from that trip.

The first hike was up Lookout Peak, a sparsely traveled hike near Cedar Grove. The walk is pretty straightforward with some nice boulder problems at the top, if you’re into that sort of thing. A great spot for solitude – decent amount of effort required.

For the second, I walked up Kearsage Pass to Mt. Gould, on the West Side of the Park, near Independence, California. Kearsage sees a fair bit of folks (although not pre-sunrise), but Gould is also pretty sparsely traveled. Some nice problems at the top of this one too.
