How to Build Knowledge and Appreciation
by Kevin He -- November 12th, 2012

There is something to be said about performance art, and the concept behind “How to Build a Forest” by the duo PearlDamour (or Lisa D’Amour and Katie Pearl) has its merit. Build an old growth forest out of recycled materials.

But I can’t help but say that I left this production (having gone at two separate occasions) wondering how many people actually “got it.” Take a look (here’s a time lapse), and let me know what you think.

Kevin – did you speak to a ranger? Pore through the field guide? I would be interested to know more your experience

Unfortunately due to time constraints I wasn’t able to utilize the tours being offered. Instead, alongside taking photos for the Chronicle I utilized the time to look at the overall exhibit and somewhat “meditate” on the overall meanings. I found the entire experience to be most useful (personally) on that front.
