Moving Towards Sustainable Tourism in the Bahamas with Small Bay Hope Lodge

Michelle will be spending the summer in the Bahamas working with Small Bay Hope Lodge, a small family owned resort on the island of Andros, to create and implement a solar water heater system for the resort. The lodge currently uses 192,000kwh of electricity each year and about half of that is used on heating water. Energy is generated from diesel on the islands and very unsustainable, so the solar water heating system we will be building will have potential to offset a significant amount of environmental and financial costs for the resort.
