Although he misses Tanzania dearly, Matt has decided to experience a different region of Africa this summer. Partnering with the Naankuse Foundation, Matt will be surveying cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and other species on a remote conservancy in southern Namibia called the Neuras Wine & Wildlife Estate. He will use camera traps, spoor counts, and other research methods to estimate the density of carnivore populations and their prey species across the conservancy. The Naankuse Foundation will then use this information to guide their management and conservation practices. This blog will tell the story of his experiences at Neuras and the incredible animals he encounters.
